Hi, my name is Ronnie. I am an American Contemporary Folk Artist. I conjure up images, then paint them on canvas. This makes me happy. Nice to meet you.

THIS is an art blog???

An Art Blog.
You've seen them...a piece of art or two posted each day, a bit of talk about art history and how to market your work.

Lately, s
aying this is an Art Blog is a stretch. My art is getting all entwined with my life. Or lost in it.
See the picture above? I took this months ago for another purpose, but it seemed to work. Paint brushes all clean and idle, unused. That's laundry piled on the kitchen table. An illustration of what my life has become. Wax lips, some candy cigarettes. A bottle of X (seemed like a good idea at the time).

This is my husband, Joe. He's trying to enjoy a piece of cake at a friend's house, but he is also looking at me, while I take the picture, knowing it may end up here on
THE ART BLOG
.
Being an artist can be detrimental to your heart, mind, soul, pocketbook, your flower beds...
your rugs, your toilets, your relationships (see Joe above), the oil filter in your car...(add more HERE if you like).
It's a matter of balance. I used to have it. It left. Where and how does the art fit in without creating problems in other parts of life? Not quite there yet. Obviously! That's the task at hand.
One of my blog friends, Sandy Mastroni said to ask for Help. She's right. Sometimes I forget.
Have a good beginning to a great week loved ones,
Ronnie - living life in a small town in Georgia, USA

Hi, Ronnie! I think we all feel like this from time to time! I read an article in some magazine the other day and it said we shouldn't be looking for balance, which implies we should be able to work on more than one thing at a time ... but rhythm, where we can flow from one task to the next. Sometimes with rhythm, the housework piles up and you have to tackle it before you can go back to art. I think ultimately it is a dance. Give and take, push and pull, real life and art. Good luck! :-)

Life is art, therefore including daily life into an art blog simply goes without saying. Nuff said.

Keep doin' what you're doin' - it's still an art blog. Better be, my link to your page says 'Ronnie The Arteest'. Nothing wrong with posting stuff about life. I'd lose interest blogging if all I wrote related to book promotion.

It's a balancing act - art/writing are relatively solitary activities requiring focus. It's a matter of establishing priorities - give n' take. I cut back on blogging & showering to be more efficient. Okay, I cut back on blogging.

Joe doesn't look like he likes that cake very much.... like he's sayin' "I retired for this?"
(Just kiddin')

Aww, Ronnie, it's okay--I figure sometimes I make art and sometimes I remember which rooms have carpeting and try to clean house but truthfully I never do both on the same day. It's really impossible and just not my style so who cares!

(((and I swear to god I just pulled a burnt cherry cobbler out of the oven as I was writing this)))

I made an email account for my poor husband:
IreallyfeelSorryforyouBob@gmail.com

I tell him he can have all his sympathy emails sent to him there and if no one who sees my mess writes to him then it means it should just be thrilled to be married to me!

Hey Ronnie! What a great blog -- love your rude cow at the top!! This is my first visit -- coming from my excellent friend Linda Crispell's site. Your post was wonderfully honest; things I struggle with all the time. I'm not sure the art fits in anywhere neatly, but if you're made an artist, you can't live without it. Madeline L'Engle has a great book about living the creative life called "Walking on Water." It always makes me feel better, a little more sane, a little more normal, about my weird artsy life!

I love your blog, art and life and everything in between! Your life is not just about art. I like eclectic blogs:)

maybe art could be something that you use to fix problems in your life, then it might not be able to cuase them.

Thanks you ALL for the kind words. It's been different having Joe at home. I'm adjusting! And I'm back to painting this week. Love to you all.

I know just how you feel. I have been trying to create, but life does go on. I think I'm in a time warp or something. And I have absolutely NO desire to clean house! So I sit here & blog! Ha! Hugs***Renea

Ahhh... the trials of retirement... a friend told me that I have adjusted my life to fit my art... darn, I think she's right.
Don't give up your art for a clean house. It's not a good trade. He looks bored, he'll want to help.
My friend Nelda says the world neeeeds art. So step over those socks, have fun with honey lips, and do art.

You are so brave for posting that photo of Joe - Then again, I never asked for Rory's approval to post pics of him...I'm brave too. I think being a blogger is what makes our families suspicious of us. They already knew we were crazy. Now we are crazy and calculating. Love your Art Blog.

Ronnie, I love your blog. That photo of Joe---looks like my husband each time I take his photo...fear of being exposed. He's retired too and I have not been as productive since.
