Hi, my name is Ronnie. I am an American Contemporary Folk Artist. I conjure up images, then paint them on canvas. This makes me happy. Nice to meet you.

It has been interesting lately!

I've been living in the center of my own carefully crafted tornado lately.  I suppose I needed a reminder from the Universe to take a break.  So, I sprained my ankle stepping down my sister's back porch steps.  As I remember the moment, I was laughing gleefully, had my hands full and had just said something haughty about someone I know.
BAM!!! Right on my rear end accompanied by a fierce pain in my right foot. Within ten seconds my ankle had blown up the size of a softball.
Sister said, "Gawd, look at that!"
I said, "I'm gonna throw up."
She said, "Don't look at it!"
And so it went.  The next several days were spent going stir crazy with a bag of frozen peas on my foot in the house Joe and I just bought in St. Marys, Georgia.
More about that later.
This morning, checking my email, I got an unexpected surprise. Not a big surprise mind you, but one that gives me an excuse to settle back a bit longer while my wobbly ankle heals.
The email was from Layla of The Lettered Cottage.  If you haven't heard of her blog and you love remodeling ideas and great DIY videos and blow by blow, you'll find it here The Lettered Cottage
Layla and Kevin are dear dynamos and I love checking in with them for my weekly dose of  remodel inspiration.
This morning Layla emailed me to tell me I was a lucky winner of her giveaway, a copy of Mary Kay Andrews latest book, "Summer Rental".
Find Layla's blog post about Mary Kay's Tybee Island vacation cottage here Breeze Inn .

Enjoy the blog and looking about Mary Kay's adorable house, y'all!  I'm waiting for the mail lady. Better make a pitcher of lemonade.

Hope you and yours are having a fine Summer,
Love and all good things,
Ronnie aka Joe's stove operator

Oooh Ronnie, I winced when I read this, I know that feeling so well! Do look after yourself, and I hope you make a full recovery soon.

while I am obviously sad to hear about your accident! I think it's always good to be forced to sit down, relax, read and drink lemonade ... so enjoy as best you can ;-)

It's been ages since I have visited but saw a random update on Facebook!

Well, Ronnie, just found you on my Dashboard...probably been there the whole time, but I just don't remember and my Internet has gone completely bonkers and add bloggers little hiccup problems of late, I feel this is the first time I've been here...not even de ja vu!!

Anyway, your little accident sounds awful...have been there and done that...last time was right after my left ankle had finally gotten some sensation back from a twister...then I opened the front door to let my little Chihuahuas out since the grass on the front lawn for some reason, smells different from the backyard grass....same stuff!! Oh well, dogs, go figure. So I step out, miss the step and back down on that friggin' ankle, again. Well, the silver lining here is that it was at least the same ankle...I do like consistency sometimes.

I'm having a great summer so far. With the drought, our humidity level is at about 5%, making our swamp coolers extra efficient, but then there's the smoke coming from the fires in NM and the smoke has found it's way to far west TX, so the skies aren't their regular lovely blue they usually are this time of year...at least it's cool in the house. Also, starting more work for a small gallery in AZ, thankfully not in a burning area.

Take care and thanks for the links...I shall tarry there now.

Well, look what the cat dragged in. Bedraggled and injured, but back. Glad to see you again. Rest, ice, compression and elevate. Yep, I had to do the RICE treatment on my own ankle last month. Hang in there and get better soon.
